i <3 allison mack.

Sorry Danielle, this is your fault for getting me into Smallville! I've become a Chloe fan! *laugh*

end of the line for fisch?

Someone on LetsGoWings received this and if true, it's heartbreaking for Jiri.

The media reports on Jiri's status are not completely accurate. He is at Harper Hospital under an assumed name, not Recieving. He is in the ICU that MJ (The e-mail sender's wife. -e.) used to be in charge of.

Today he is scheduled for an operation. Two of the possibilities, would end his hockey career. One possibility is putting in some type of Fibulater (sic). The other is a pacemaker. Both would end his hockey career. The other is if they can find out what is wrong and fix it without these artificial means.

time for turkey...

Well, I'll be without internet access until Sunday as I'll be up in New Hampshire with Danielle and her parents for the Thanksgiving weekend, so Happy Turkey Day to my fellow United Staters out there. To those of you out of the US and overseas...we just really like turkey and booze. That about covers it.

Fischer Collapses

TSN.ca Staff

11/21/2005 8:33:57 PM

Defenceman Jiri Fischer of the Detroit Red Wings was treated by emergency medical staff after collapsing on the bench during tonight's game against the Nashville Predators.

Initial but unconfirmed reports suggest Fischer may have been hit in the throat by a stick or a puck as he sat on the bench with 7:31 left in the first period.

Medical crews appeared to be doing CPR on Fischer before he was taken out on a stretcher. Reports later said Fischer was loaded unconscious, but breathing on his own, into and ambulance and taken to a local hospital.

The Predators and Red Wings have gone to their dressing rooms and the game has been delayed until further notice.

Details to follow...

---

UPDATE: According to Fox Sports Detroit, Fisch had a seizure and collapsed on the bench. Frightening scene. He's stable and responsive at Detroit Receiving Hospital.

Here's another article about what happened tonight.

booby traps!

If you were a child of the eighties like me, you have an undying love for the film The Goonies. Cast members like Corey Feldman and Sean Astin are still in the Hollywood spotlight, most recently in The Surreal Life and the Lord of the Rings films, respectively.

But what's the rest of the cast doing?

Believe it or not, Chunk is an attorney. Data is doing techie work in the Hong Kong film industry. Check 'em all out here, thanks to Kiddo78.

HOLY SHIT!

The Ducks traded Sergei Fedorov...to the COLUMBUS BLUE JACKETS?!?

Okay, that's seriously fucked up.

i'm getting old.

It's not uncommon for one to have dreams of high school, even after one has been out of high school for a number of years. Since I graduated from high school nine and a half years ago, I've always had scattered dreams involving being back in high school once again - and they always felt perfectly natural (even though they shouldn't have).

Well, I think I may have hit that age where that may change.

Last night, I had a dream that involved high school, but more like a high school reunion. The dream gave the impression that it was more like a "pre-reunion", but still. I really only remembered three people in the dream (two were past friends, one was just an acquaintance), but recognized others (and subsequently spent much of the dream trying to remember what their names were). The odd thing? For some reason, this "pre-reunion" took place in Jersey City, despite my having went to high school in Michigan. Don't ask me to rationalize it, I have no control over my subconscious.

What's even more strange is that I felt comfortable in the dream and not at all awkward. Were I to go to my 10-year high school reunion next year (if they hold a 10-year...I haven't heard a single word on it), I would feel completely out of place and beyond uncomfortable. All my friends were underclassmen - I'd feel more comfortable going to their reunions, but still very awkward.

I should look up my high school's website. See what's going on over there.

easiest registration EVER.

So, I went to register for classes today, for the short Winter Session (entire month of January, Monday through Thursday) and the Spring Semester. And it was quite possibly the smoothest registration I've ever had in my nearly 6 years of taking classes here. I was in and out of the enrollment services office in about a minute, no joke. Got all my classes, which include:

Winter Session
Communications in Science Fiction Literature and Film

Spring Semester
Medieval World
Films of Alfred Hitchcock
Japanese II

This is a sharp contrast to the debacle when I had to register and figure out which office could remove my hiatus status from my record, since I had taken two semesters off. The whole problem was that since I'm an employee and a student, there's extra confidentiality involved in my records and therefore, extra security. Bounced between about a dozen offices and so on. I know it's in a past entry here somewhere.

don't read this while eating breakfast.

I did something very strange this weekend. If you have a weak constitution, don't read any further.

Wusses.

Anyway, those that know me know I don't exactly have a healthy digestive system and I wanted to do something about it. Did a little bit of reading and decided to try Colon Hydrotherapy.

Yeah, it's exactly how it sounds.

A tube is inserted in the, er, ass and then water is flushed into the colon...and then it's purged out - about 35 minutes for a session. To be honest (and this is why I gave fair warning to you all), it felt like diarrhea when the water would purge. And when the water purged, it carried...particulate matter with it. Use your imagination. The setup is like sitting on a toilet, but you're on your back and the "toilet" is horizontal to the floor. It's weird - and expensive ($100 for the first visit, $80 for subsequent visits) - but I think it was worth it. Definitely felt better afterwards. Get rid of those nasty toxins.

You guys still reading?

tired autumn days...

There are some times when I go to my Japanese lab on Wednesday afternoons when I feel like I know the material so clearly and that I'm actually involved in the lab and not just observing. Then there are other times where I simply feel like the slowest person in the room and that I have no business being there. Today was one of the latter days. I just couldn't focus today, couldn't repeat simple phrases back, and so on. Really felt uncomfortable. Just one of those days, I suppose. Could be related to my next subject as well...

I think I figured out why I'm so tired and pseudo-nauseous today. See, I ate breakfast, ate lunch, but I've still felt exhausted and sick to my stomach all day. I think I might actually have a hangover without a headache. That's never happened to me before - a headache always accompanies a hangover for me. You see, I was listening to the Wings game last night (listening, because I don't have that crappy OLN network and therefore, Center Ice wasn't showing the game) and decided to exhaust the caramel apple jello shots in my fridge by way of a little hockey drinking game. I would basically down a shot any time there was A) a penalty called or B) a goal scored. I had 15 jello shots and I figured that would be more than enough.

I was wrong.

Those jello shots were gone before the end of the 2nd period and, stupid me, determined to finish what I started, started downing shots of Island Blue Pucker (hockey, puck, Pucker...a little bit of incidental humor there) from the end of the 2nd into the 3rd. Thankfully, the Wings won yet again or I might have been a little pissed. I don't even think I was drunk though...which makes it odd that I would be hungover. The only other explanation would be that I'm potentially getting sick again. Which shouldn't happen, since I was just sick a couple months ago and my body simply doesn't get sick often like that.

By the way...if any of you decide to do a hockey drinking game, here's a bit of advice: make the rules so that you down a shot after the opposing team scores or if your team gets a penalty...not for both teams.

Ugh. Excuse me while I rest my head on my desk now.
