I think I broke the sleeping center of my brain.
The other night, I simply couldn't fall asleep. Didn't nap or anything when I got home from work. I just was sprawled out in bed, constantly shifting to try and get comfortable (much to Danielle's annoyance), and I think I finally managed to catch some Z's by 4:00am or so. Needless to say, I was exhausted when I got home from work last night around 7:00pm. I eventually managed to get to bed around 10:30pm last night and it didn't take too long to fall asleep - but then I woke up this morning at 5:30am without an alarm. And I couldn't get back to sleep. Blargh. What the hell? At least it gave me time this morning to relax a bit, have an extra cup of coffee, breakfast, and some more DVD burns before I left for work. I'll see how my body reacts when sleeping tonight, both in terms of falling asleep and waking up. I need a regular pattern again. Stupid summer.
In other news, I was flipping through the pages of
MySpace and actually discovered that someone with whom I went to high school (although a class below mine and I didn't know him) actually lives not too far away here in Jersey. Bizarre. Never thought I'd ever potentially run into a
CVHS grad way out here.
I just added a few more auctions for my comics, 17 in all and 171 issues of
Uncanny X-Men in total.
In case anyone reading here is a fan of comic books, I figured a little self-promotion couldn't hurt. I'm selling off a good portion of my comic books, starting with my issues of
Uncanny X-Men, starting from issue #296. Check out the first auction
here and do the
eBay thing to check out my other auctions too (listed up to issue #355 at the time of this entry). The starting bids are only $0.99 for 10 issues in each auction, so this is a hell of a way to beef up your backissues. C'mon, help a brother out!
Congrats to the Carolina Hurricanes, the 2006 Stanley Cup Champions! And congrats to Cam Ward, the 3rd youngest Conn Smythe Trophy winner in NHL history!
Well, I've been away for pretty much the past week with all sorts of stuff going on.
The weekend before last, I was finishing up some shoots and, in the process of taking a vacuum cleaner out of my car to take into a shop for repair before one of the shoots, I threw out my back. The Thursday before that, I had been removing some old A/C units from the windows in our apartment to make way for new ones and I think that's what ultimately did in my back; it just didn't actually "pop" until Saturday. So, I taped four shows on Saturday, all the while my back in a constant state of spasm. How's that for dedication?
After a day and a half of liberally icing my lower back, Danielle and I went off for our honeymoon/vacation down the shore. Went on the boardwalk in Wildwood on Tuesday (where, amazingly, I actually got some color from the sun), chilled out the next day - hot tub in the
campground at which we stayed, then a bit of mini-golf at a local place, and then on Thursday we went to
Great Adventure for a few hours. Then it was back homeward.
On Saturday, I was back shooting again on a somewhat-last-minute-but-not-totally-unanticipated shoot for four hours and that's what I've been working on today. Over two and a half hours of footage and I'm logging it all shot by shot. I set
Premiere to separate all the clips as it captured them and I ended up with 277 individual clips. As you can imagine, it'll take a little while to log them all, but I've made good progress getting through 65 of them today.
Now, it's time to get home and make dinner before Danielle gets home. Tacos!
From
MSNBC.com:

"The Republican leadership is asking us to spend time writing bigotry into the Constitution," said Sen. Edward Kennedy of Massachusetts, which legalized gay marriage in 2003. "A vote for it is a vote against civil unions, against domestic partnership, against all other efforts for states to treat gays and lesbians fairly under the law."
In response, Hatch fumed: "Does he really want to suggest that over half of the United States Senate is a crew of bigots?"

Why yes, Orrin, he does. In all likelihood, that's pretty accurate.
I feel kind of lame knowing that
this five-year-old is better at DDR now than I'll probably ever be. That's what I get for watching stupid internet videos, I suppose.
Everybody welcome
Opie & Anthony to Detroit for the first time ever. Strangely enough, they're on the same station that broadcasts Red Wings games in Detroit,
WXYT 1270AM.
Of course, I have
XM, so it's a moot point, but it's cool to have 'em broadcasting in my home area anyway.
I've been using
Logitech products for years - mice, keyboards, and so on. They're easily some of the most reliable peripherals out there. So imagine my surprise when my not-too-old notebook mouse started acting up on me. First
Logitech product I've ever owned that I've had problems with. So I called their customer support department this morning. The guy on the line was
great, even if he did seem to be a bit out of it due to the time of the call (it was still quite early out there, approximately 7:30am). Long story short, I have a new mouse shipping out to me, arriving within 7-10 days. Awesome. Thank you,
Logitech! Youse da shizzle.
