*crunch crunch crunch*

Munchos are, without a doubt, the most delicious potato chips (or potato crisps, as stated on the bag) I've ever tasted. I used to eat them all the time back when I was in high school; the vending machines had them in there. Once I moved to Jersey, however, I never seemed to see them anymore; everything was Utz.

But today, they were sitting there nestled amongst the other crispy snacks in the Nathan's on campus, its rust-orange-colored bag gleaming like a heavenly beacon, inviting me to partake of their delicious crispy nature. I just ate a bag of them and now I want more.

Drat. I'm a cow. Moo.

still not surprised.

...and new cases of the norovirus are still popping up on campus, students and faculty.

Top notch job of sanitizing things, eh?

if i had friends, i wouldn't be surprised to get such a call.

"At some point, our music moved from MTV to VH1..." -Avery

And it's true too. I was at Walmart yesterday and heard "Smells Like Teen Spirit" playing on the in-house PA system...followed by "Yellow Ledbetter". I was half-expecting to hear "Head Like A Hole" or "Terrible Lie" come up next.

And in the process of writing this entry, I discovered that the final track on the single for "Head Like A Hole" where some girl shouts "Let's hear it for nine inch nails, woo!" is actually Kelly friggin' Ripa - yes, the same one that hosts a morning talk show with Regis Philbin - on the old Dance Party USA show. Frightening.

as i suspected.

FDU's idea of "disinfecting all offices on campus over the break" is a curious one.

When I came into my office today, the floors and such were just as dirty as usual. I found out that while I was out last week, someone came in once to mop. And even that's not too apparent, considering the state of the floor. So, that counts as "disinfecting"?

Oh yeah, they gave us a thing of Clorox wipes too. Oooooh.

Classrooms didn't look overly disinfected either. Clean, yes, but still containing the usual scrap that I find in there - discarded food wrappers under desks and inside podiums, residual food spills, etc.

I'm curious if we'll still hear about people getting sick or what. Probably not - the virus probably ran its course - but if we do, FDU sure will look silly.

comedian richard jeni dead at 49.

Dammit.

Richard Jeni, Mitch Hedberg, Bill Hicks...yet Larry the Cable Guy is still alive and kicking. There's truly no justice in the world.

ignorant.

Wow. Do people like this really exist? No wonder the rest of the world thinks we're morons with people like that around.

more on the norovirus.

There's something wrong with this article. Specifically this piece:
"The university continues to clean and disinfect bathrooms and the cafeteria three times daily."
Nuh-uh. Maybe they're cleaning the cafeteria three times daily, but they're certainly not cleaning the bathrooms or classroom buildings three times daily. If it's possible, the bathrooms in the classroom buildings are actually more disgusting than they normally are.

Cleaning crews are on campus finishing up every morning when I come in. They've cleaned the bathrooms and classrooms...and then they don't return until the next day. So how the hell is that "three times daily"? Sure, the bathrooms are clean in the morning...but by midday, they're absolutely disgusting - not surprising considering this norovirus involves vomiting and diarrhea.

I know that my office hasn't been disinfected once since this whole norovirus surfaced. My guess is that we're likely not alone in that (but I'm willing to bet that the administration offices are being disinfected regularly). And considering that students - possibly infected students - are in and out of these offices every day, the norovirus will still be waiting for us when we return from Spring Break (which is next week).

I'm not sure if it's lazy reporting, poor phrasing or just the university playing damage control, but this campus isn't being cleaned to the degree they say it is. And as a result,
more and more people are getting sick with each passing day here. Faculty are getting sick. Staff are getting sick. And students are still getting sick. But they still won't close the campus to actually disinfect and clean the campus properly.

Does anyone else see a fucking problem here?

stupid norovirus.

Okay, I'm hoping the lovely FDU norovirus that's been all over the news isn't the reason my stomach has been in knots all day. I'm hoping it's just nerves, since they've been shot lately for a variety of reasons. I've got a crick in my neck too, which is probably due to sleeping wrong or something. Hurts like hell though.

On top of that, I walk into the office to a faculty call for a late LCD projector request an hour before their meeting. "But the people for this meeting are from Teaneck and they didn't know!" Not a valid excuse, sorry. Want another good analogy?

When I moved to Jersey, I was unaware of a law in my town that forbids parking cars on the street between the hours of 2am - 5am. As a result, I had parked my car on the street one evening and woke up to a $50 ticket. Do you think the Morris County Police will buy an excuse of "Well, I'm from Michigan, I didn't know!"?

great films.

Every time I see it on TV, I'm reminded how brilliant a film The Breakfast Club is. Nowadays, it takes a good indie director to pull together a film like this. And when you consider how dated it could be, it most certainly isn't. I pray no one ever tries to do a remake of it.

this will take a bit of getting used to.

Todd Bertuzzi donning the Winged Wheel. Didn't really seem real until I saw this pic.

And damn, he looks happy. Can't wait to see him on the ice in a game.

terribly annoyed.

I can't think of any logical reason why, but the very act of going into work this week has left me in a sour mood since Monday. In addition to that, I've been fatigued as hell every day and can't figure out why. I'm eating the same amounts that I'm used to, I'm sleeping reasonable amounts at night and I'm taking all my regular asthma/allergy meds, including my multi-vitamin.

So why the hell am I so tired and surly?

What's worse is that I have class today, so that eliminates any possibility of actually leaving work early. And before you say it, no, I can't skip today. I missed last week and I get the sense that this professor is a stickler for absences.

For now, I'll just drink my Starbucks Iced Coffee (light!) and try and muddle through the day.
