Got my Wii yesterday. I'm so weak. But it's so much damn fun.
But for now, I'm stuck at work, bored. Already finished watching season 3 of Lost (and now I'm gritting my teeth waiting for February '08 to come). I think I'll watch some RvB or something. Only 5 eps left for me to watch.
I'm very tempted to buy myself a Wii sometime soon. But I'm not sure if I should. Wal-Mart has a bundle package starting at $538.50 and it's actually a reasonable deal (when all is said and done with shipping and a component cable, I'd end up paying around $600). It comes with the console, an extra accessory (I'd get the Nyko charger cradle for the controllers, an extra $10), an extra Wiimote and nunchuk controller, Big Brain Academy and then a choice (from a limited selection) of three more games. The price is actually relatively spot on ($250 console + $30 charger + $40 Wiimote + $20 nunchuk + [$50 x 4 games] = $540.00), which makes me ponder this purchase more and more.
Were I to do this, I'd have to decide which games I want...probably Super Paper Mario, Mario Party 8, and...uhm...not sure. I'd definitely go for some certain games, but to make it worth my while, I want to pick $50 games and not $40 or $30 ones (otherwise Elebits would definitely be a choice). Trauma Center? Cooking Mama? Gargh, I don't know!
Someone tell me if this seems worth it, because $600 is a good chunk of change to just spend right now. In the meantime, I'm just going to put aside cash from each paycheck in an envelope labeled Wii. If anything, I'll be able to easily afford one by the time Beautiful Katamari is released.
I finally decided to take advantage of using Google Photos (Picasa) and my first additions up there are pics from AnimeNext 2007 and Botcon 2007. I may eventually just migrate my entire photo gallery collection there and remove the gallery from edicius.org the next time I do a site re-org (which really needs to be done...there's been nothing going on at the 'Misc.' link above for...well, forever).
Anyway, the galleries are here, so check 'em out if you feel like it.
Well, last night marked the end of my vacation and I'll be back to work on Monday. Me and my Botcon cohorts wound up at AnimeNext at the Meadowlands Expo Center here in Jersey. Got my Full Metal Panic DVD boxed set signed by Monica Rial and Chris Patton and also picked up a copy of The Strangerhood for Danielle, signed by two of the Rooster Teeth gang (you know, the peeps responsible for the hugely hilarious Red vs. Blue?). Ti and I snapped a shot with 'em below (Ti's second from the left and, duh, I'm on the right).
Just saw Transformers this evening for the second time. Still just as good as the first time. And, amazingly, Danielle loved it too. Or in her words, "That fucking rocked!!!".
Oh yeah. Let's smash that 4th of July box office record.
We attended the Hasbro Future Product Unveiling panel and got to find out all sorts of new info about the upcoming animated series. I still don't really dig the new animation style (think Teen Titans), but the writing might save it. That and the characters.
But the best part of today? David Kaye and his panel and subsequent autograph session. The panel was awesome because David Kaye is just a hell of an entertaining guy. Afterwards, I got him to record a voice clip as Beast Wars Megatron for a message board I'm on as well as signing my Botcon badge. And then in the actual autograph line (since I had already accosted him for an autograph after the panel), I had him record a clip as Beast Wars Megatron on my phone that I'll use for my voicemail notification - "Ahhh, you have a voicemail, yessssss..."
In addition, I caved in and bought a bunch of Movie toys today...the characters in the movie made me do it.
Yesterday was mostly spent in the dealer room, attending the Peter Cullen panel and then a hell of a party in the evening with a Stan Bush concert ("Dare", "The Touch") to close it up. I drank many beers. It was fun. Our voices were hoarse in the morning from singing along. Yes, we're super geeky.
All in all, a great weekend. Sad to see it end, but I'll be happy to sleep in my own bed tomorrow night.
