updates.

Just updated some stuff on my profile page, including newer photos of my tats. Realized I hadn't taken new photos of my Transformers ones since I got the G1 insignias touched up. Next tattoo job will be touchups on my Red Wings tats, plus the Stanley Cup behind both of them. Probably going to get that done sometime before Christmas.

okay, today really officially sucks.

God damn it.

information is useful, you know.

There is such a lack of meaningful communication on this campus. If there's information that, ya know, might be helpful to further allow me to do my job, shouldn't I actually have that information? Pretty basic stuff, right?

But nope, make it look like I don't know how to do my job. Don't think for a second that it might be your own inability to actually communicate and understand things outside of your own little world.

See, this is why I have to take Xanax. Ugh.

stupid wrong country.

It figures that these would only be available in the UK, dammit.

It's not enough that UK-only DVD releases are tempting me to get a multi-region DVD player, is it?

this isn't a video store!

I can't figure out why this is such a difficult concept for the students here to figure out. The video collection in my department is not like your local Blockbuster. I just get baffled when students call here looking for a newer movies on DVD ("Do you have Star Wars: Episode II?") or even worse, movies that have just come out on DVD within the past couple of weeks.

For the most part, we don't stock movies here! This is Instructional Media! Therefore, about 90% of our collection consists of education videos, the kinds of programs you might see on PBS. When I tell the students this, they end up surprised for some reason.

Hey, they had their shot at a movie rental service on this campus by means of an automated machine in the Student Center - and pretty much destroyed the machine in the process, so it had to be removed, never to return. Brilliant, right?

Seriously, I think the newest feature films (not including items as The Corporation or An Inconvenient Truth as "entertainment " so much) we have on DVD here are The Matrix and Brokeback Mountain. The former was purchased for use in a philosophy class, the latter was actually a donation to the department.

I think I'm a little too high-strung today, which is why this is bugging me. It doesn't help that I'll be here until about 8:30 tonight because of class. I'm crossing my fingers that we'll be watching a film that I've already seen so I can stealthily exit the class early, but the chances of that are nil. I'm just dragging ass today and I have no idea why. No motivation to do much of anything around here, beyond the bare minimum of what's needed. Couple that with the fact that my back and left hip/knee are feeling a bit a pain today and it's no surprise that I'd much rather be sitting in bed reading a book or a magazine. Instead, it's about six and a half hours more of work, a little bit of time awake at home, and then off to bed to begin the cycle again. Blech. I'm a miserable pest today, I swear.

if it wasn't for the fact that it would clearly offend some, i'd forward this all through the library.

a college course on youtube?

Apparently, there's one in California.

But it just comes across as the next "fad class". If they wanted to do this right, they wouldn't limit it to YouTube, but instead as a Communication course that encompasses all multimedia communication systems that are currently in wide usage on the web - video sites, online communities, dating sites and so on.

To limit a course to YouTube is just gratuitous and is just something that's begging media attention (which has obviously worked).

EA Sports can kiss my ass.

Good job, guys. This'll be the first year in ages that I don't buy one of your NHL games. I'm not spending $40 on a PS2 version that hasn't changed except for minor control-related functions and rosters in four years. And I'm not spending $40 on a PC version that isn't any better than the PS2 version. You could have made it current-gen like the PS3 and 360 versions but nope, too lazy to actually take the effort.

Here's hoping 2K Sports wises up and realizes there's a disgruntled PC market out there in relation to EA Sports games. Hell, I might even buy NHL 2K8 from 2K since it's only $20 brand new, just as an additional FU to EA (and to get my hockey fix).

Yeah, I know, EA doesn't give a shit what I think. It's still frustrating, though. I own all their NHL games from NHL '99 on PSX to NHL '07 on PS2 and PSP. Was a nice streak while it lasted. Maybe I'll pick up a copy of '08 from a used bargain bin for $5 some time down the road.

ooooh, that smell!

When I came into work today, my first set of duties were in the Mansion. Upon opening the doors to the building, I was met with a smell that was not entirely unlike feet.

I'm not kidding, it smelled like feet.

Ascending to the second floor, I thought the smell might dissipate. No such luck. Same on the third floor. What kind of cleaning product creates a smell like feet? I just want to know so I never accidentally buy such an odd smelling cleanser.
