er, sorry, we thought you were someone else.

Bensenville police still have no viable suspects in the armed robbery that led them to mistakenly detain Blackhawks player Tuomo Ruutu.

The reported crime happened about 11:50 a.m. Tuesday at the Brentwood Apartments, 630 E. George St., when a man displaying a handgun entered the building's office, said Linda Dickson, Bensenville's director of communications.

The man demanded cash from the rental manager, then searched the office's safe, Dickson said.

When he discovered the safe contained no money, the man left the building and was last seen running east, Dickson said.

The manager said the suspect was wearing a black jacket, black hat and pants and was about 6 feet tall.

That's where Ruutu unfortunately entered the picture.

He decided to go for a run in the afternoon after Blackhawks practice at an ice arena in Bensenville when he was stopped by police. Ruutu happened to be wearing his black team sweat suit and a black knit hat.

After a witness showed up and said he was not the suspect, Ruutu was released from the back of the squad care where he'd been held.

detroit cuisine.

Wikipedia explains it brilliantly here in their "Cuisine of the Midwestern United States" entry:

Detroit

Detroit specialties include a style of hot dog known as a Coney Island hot dog, found at hundreds of unaffiliated "Coney Island" restaurants. Famous examples include Lafayette Coney Island and American Coney Island which stand next to each other serving Coneys all night in downtown Detroit.

Detroit also has its own style of pizza, a thick-crusted, Sicilian-influenced, rectangular type called square pizza. Other Detroit foods include zip sauce, served on steaks; the triple-decker Dinty Moore sandwich; and a Chinese-American dish called warr shu gai or almond boneless chicken.

The Detroit area (particularly the city of Dearborn) has many large groups of immigrants, most notably the largest Arabic-speaking population outside of the Middle East and the most Lebanese storefronts outside of Lebanon. It also has a substantial number of Greek restaurateurs. Thus, numerous Mediterranean restaurants dot the region and typical foods such as gyros, hummus and falafel can be found in many run-of-the-mill grocery stores and restaurants.

Polish food is also prominent in the city, consisting of popular dishes such as sauerkraut, pierogiesborscht. The Polish paczki is also celebrated in the Detroit area, especially on Fat Thursday. Polish bakeries concentrated in the Polish enclave of Hamtramck, Michigan, a suburb within the city, sell a selection of paczkis whose ingredients have diverged slightly from the original. and

I could so go for some square pizza right now from Buscemi's. Blargh.

what the hell is going on in this place?!

Why on earth would Computing Services - you know, the department on campus responsible for computers - send someone who needs a replacement mouse for their computer to my department - a department on campus not responsible for computers? Does that make any sense at all?

That's like going to Wal-Mart, asking for something from the Electronics section and then having them send you over to Housewares. I just don't get the mentality here sometimes.

why am i not surprised?

Without going into too much detail, once again documents haven't been signed by certain parties that should have been signed yesterday and as a result, it's giving me a bit of a headache. It's not as if this is a one-time occurrence either. This happened last year too, right around the same time, thus my lack of surprise regarding the situation. It's a shame I can't play the "Oh, I had more important things to do" card with these certain parties regarding my tasks. Well, I could, but I'd actually face repercussions from it.

I hadn't needed to take a Xanax for at least a couple weeks. Well, there goes that streak.
