Can someone tell me when the hell Dunkin Donuts started selling personal pan pizzas and flatbread sandwiches? At least bagels and pastries made sense in the grand scheme of things when they added those. But this stuff? Trying to keep up with Starbucks, Panera and Atlanta Bread, I suppose. It's still weird.
It's days like this that I really love Cyanide and Happiness. Today's comic is especially disturbing, which puts a big ol' smile on my not-yet-braced-face.
As I'll be getting braces put on tomorrow, this is the last glimpse at my crooked smile before it becomes adorned with shiny metal for the next two years.
Historically, prescription pain meds don't do a whole lot for me. When I had my wisdom teeth pulled, they gave me a prescription for Percoset and while I didn't really need it, there was one day I was feeling some soreness. Popped one and...nothing. Didn't get rid of the soreness, didn't make me high or anything. Nothing. Even when it comes to Advil or ibuprofen, I usually need to take one or two more than the regular recommended dose because I've just built up a tolerance to pain meds.
So when I got vicodin after getting four teeth pulled in preparation for getting braces put on this coming Thursday, I wasn't expecting them to do much for any soreness of pain.
Wow, was I sorely (pun intended) mistaken!
I popped one this morning and I was floating. The soreness was gone and I was feeling no pain, as it were. Four hours later, the pain started to return, so I had to pop another one. And back to la-la land. I swear, I'm turning into Gregory House, what with my bum foot (due to the whole iron-falling-on-it deal) and popping vicodin.
It's just weird, because pain meds don't normally do this to me and I'm certainly not taking them to get high or anything - I just want the soreness in my mouth to stop (although, after this Thursday, I think that'll be a losing battle).
Hey, at least it's stopped me from drinking for a bit!
Don't get me wrong, though, I was loving it when I saw it happen live. Glad Gaborik is okay, but that's all about Dom getting into the game and getting his form back (since he has, undoubtedly, sucked so far this season).
In about an hour, I'll be at the oral surgeon getting four teeth yanked out in preparation for having braces put on next Thursday. Fun, fun, fun. Wish me luck (and minimal pain).
Have you ever considered the clutter of random objects in your car and, while the objects may be perfectly normal for your everyday routine, how strange they would seem to someone else?
I always have random tech stuff in my car and don't think twice about it. But someone else might never have such an item in their car. Right now, the contents of my backseat include some regular items and then some items specific to me:
a large blue MagLite
winter gloves
a Red Wings winter hat
snow brush
Red Wings ice scraper
CD binder full of MP3 compilations
plastic trash can
2 empty bottles of Aquafina
three sets of VGA cables
a VGA-to-DVI adapter
a VGA-to-MiniDVI adapter
a Sharp LCD projector remote
a power strip
a roll of gaffer's tape
And in my trunk:
5 quarts of 5W30 oil
a funnel
a collapsible storage crate with wheels
a folding table
a folding stool
various extension cords
two rolls of gaffer's tape
Some of the stuff is perfectly normal (MagLite, gloves, etc.), but who keeps VGA cables and adapters in their car on an almost daily basis?
Whenever I get a cold, there always seems to be a very logical and natural progression by which it affects me.
First, it starts with a sore throat. Next, my sinuses explode and a stuffy/runny nose ensues, while the sore throat gets worse due to nasal drainage. After that, the sore throat begins to diminish - and that's when the coughing starts. The nose continues to alternate between stuffy and runny, while coughs stay stuck in my throat. Next, the coughing turns hoarse, due to a coated feeling in the throat. From there, I know the cold should be on its last legs and I'll be (mostly) fine within the next few days, although sinus problems linger for a while after that.
That "coated throat" phase is the one I'm at now. I started getting sick last Wednesday, so hopefully I'll have kicked this cold by the weekend.
Well, the bruising from the iron wound has surfaced, starting around the edge of my toes. That would explain why the pain has been radiating out in that direction.
