popcorn.
One of the most universally beloved smells has to be that of popcorn being made. When we go to the movies, the scent permeates the air and results in a desire to gobble down a whole bucket of the stuff covered in salt and fake butter (unless you've worked in a theater, in which case I've been told you never want to eat popcorn ever again).
One of the unfortunate side effects of my having braces now is that I can't enjoy popcorn as I used to. Even before I got my braces on, popcorn would always get stuck in the various crevices of my teeth. Now, I'm not even adventurous enough to eat even a single piece for fear that a piece will get stuck within the braces and never wiggle its way free.
It drives me crazy now when I smell popcorn being made knowing that I can't have any. It seems that at least two or three days out of the work week, someone in the staff room is making some buttery microwave popcorn, as the scent wafts through the halls and into my office. Why must they taunt me with that heavenly aroma?

i've been watching too much miami ink.
It's making me itch something fierce for some new ink. And I think I may have an idea of what I want next: Deadpool.
I have two designs in mind:
If Tony's capable of doing the more complex one (the 2nd one), than that's definitely the one I'd like to go for. But if not, I'd be more than happy with the first one. Just need to see how much cash I need to save for it (either that, or leech some of the funds from my video jobs). Then I gotta figure out where I'd want to get it done. I'm thinking either one of my shoulderblades (yowch) or my right leg (to balance things up, since my Wings tats are on the left).

the end of the riaa...?
We can only hope...
Is the RIAA as we know it about to disappear? As rumors continue to swirl that EMI will pull its funding from music trade groups like the RIAA and IFPI, an IFPI spokesman tells Ars that the group is in the middle of a major internal review of its operations.

happy birthday, wikipedia! (#600!)
Amazingly, Wikipedia is 7 years old today. Time's going so damn fast these days.
Hell, I'm trying to remember when I got my first MP3 files. That's one of those pieces of technology that we take for granted, but I remember when MP3s were new tech ("You mean I can get a whole song for a fraction of the size of a wav file?"). I know I was still living in Michigan, so it was easily pre-August 1999. I could probably check the creation date of all my MP3s at home to find out. I'm almost certain my first set was an Apoptygma Berzerk album.

new design.
As you can undoubtedly tell, I decided to switch things up today, made the site a bit darker, color palette-wise. Figured it needed a change, since I honestly can't remember the last time I did. Had to have been back in '03 or '04. Anyway, voila. Nothing fancy, but I like it.
And damn, one more blog post until #600. I've been doing this crap on here for a while now, haven't I?

ah, nature...
On my way back to the office from the Mansion, I just witnessed a hawk dive-bombing (unsuccessfully) a squirrel.
That was interesting.

gallery update, kind of.
I'm going to try something out. I have a couple image galleries on Picasa (courtesy of Google) from Botcon and AnimeNext and I realized how much easier it is to create galleries on there, rather than this pull-down menu crap I've been using on my page for who knows how long.
So, for now, my 'Gallery' link (above) is going to point to my Picasa album and I'll see how that works. It almost feels wrong because it's like I'm outsourcing my site to a third party, but honestly, it's easier. I wish they had some website integration tools for Picasa (and if they do, I'd appreciate a heads-up on it), but for now, the easiest solution is just to pop you over there with a new window. If anything, this means a more plentiful photo gallery with more frequent updates.
As I said, I only have a couple galleries up right now as of this posting, but I'm going to try and transfer over most of the other stuff from here sometime today and see how it goes.
For my faithful readers (all three of you), let me know what you think. I know, I know, I'm selling out. But fuck it, I'm lazy.

super mario frustration.
he sings christmas carols!
For all those people out there who think Richard Dawkins is just an atheist out to destroy Christianity, the BBC had a great little article up last month that sheds a whole new light on the man. If it was possible, I just gained even more respect for the man.
