Here's a shot from the Margot and the Nuclear So and So's show last night at the Bowery Ballroom. Awesome, awesome show.

results of boredom.
And here's what I was toying around with in Premiere. Just wanted to see how some of the effects would turn out when authored. Yeah, I have no life.
tuesday,
It's Tuesday. I'm at work. Zune's playing on random right now. Just started playing "Double Talkin' Jive by Guns N' Roses. I'm doing a bit of work in Premiere right now, trying to encode some files while at the same time toying around with some effects tricks with test footage. Signed up for my Production II class yesterday, so aside from the capability to edit, I'm actually going to need some, you know, ideas for things to actually shoot by my lonesome. That reminds me, I'm going to have to order a batch of mini DV tapes at some point for that class. Nothing terribly exciting. Just a Tuesday.
Back to that Production II class, though, does anyone have any simple, yet somewhat creative ideas for any 5 minute shorts? My creative well has run dry at the moment and I seriously can't think of a single idea to shoot. Or at least not anything that I'd be able to do without multiple actors (which isn't realistic for me, given that, despite 9 years of living here, I know next to no one in Jersey, much less anyone with respectable acting chops). Keep in mind that I have to shoot this by myself (though I do have three cameras to work with, plus a couple production lights and a handful of different methods for getting audio) with myself being the primary "actor" for the shorts. Locations aren't much of an issue, as I have home, my office, campus (especially during odd hours, since I work here), etc. Give me something good and you'll get credit on the final product.
Now that I think of it, I honestly can't remember anything I did for Production I. But I know I took the class, since I got credit for it. Not a single clue what I did, though.

for sale.
Okay people, I'm selling some more stuff -- hopefully to accumulate some cash for an e-book reader, thus the selling of my beloved already-read paperbacks and hardcovers (in addition to some previously-listed CDs). Take a look and see if anything strikes you as buyable. Tell your friends. Seriously. These books are taking up too much real estate.

"The man in black fled across the desert, and the gunslinger followed..."
After what's ultimately encompassed at least 15 years or so for me, I've finally finished Stephen King's The Dark Tower series. I just finished reading the final line of the final book (The Dark Tower VII: The Dark Tower) and I'm not quite certain if it's the single most satisfying ending I've ever read in a book...or the most frustrating. Either way, it was certainly a fitting ending for this amazing series, if not a bit...bleak.
This will be the first time in a good long while that I'll be reading something non-Dark Tower-related (not to mention significantly shorter than DT7's 1,000+ pages). I feel like I'm leaving behind old friends in Roland, Susannah, Eddie, Jake and Oy...but that's ka for you.

the ordeal is OVER.
I finally, FINALLY got my VX2100 back yesterday and this time, miraculously, it's been repaired. Makes me honestly wonder what they were doing with it the previous four times it went in for repair. On the repair slip, it mentions that they replaced the plate mechanism (none of the previous "repairs" actually made mention of any parts being replaced, just adjustments, alignments, cleaning, etc.) and apparently, that's what did the trick. Two months later. Yeah.
Hopefully this'll minimize the anxiety I've been feeling over the damned thing. I haven't exactly been popping Xanax like candy, but I've taken more over the past two months than I'd like (maybe only 5 or 6, but still). Leaves me to feel anxiety from more productive things, like Mario Kart Wii or being poked and prodded into having kids (shush, Danielle, I know it's harmless poking and prodding!). Or even working!
Oh crap, I am at work.
Probably should do something about that.
