Yes, I've been forsaking my blog while I've been tweeting and Facebooking all the live long day. Sorry. Anyway...
Listening to Opie and Anthony this morning, I realized that I don't really have a good reason for never having seen Goodfellas before, other than not being into the whole mafia genre. But hearing Tony Darrow on their show this morning, I may have to give it a shot. I mean, it's Scorcese, how bad can it be?
My leg/back is actually feeling pretty good today (now watch, I just jinxed it). Something I did over the past week and a half or so had really tweaked things up again, but I, nor my chiropractor, can figure out exactly what I did. The conversation went sort of like this:
And so on. No clue what I did, but whatever it was, it seems I've stopped doing it and things are starting to feel better again. Still not going to tempt fate though and I'm continuing going to the gym to do treadmilling at least 3 times a week. How else am I going to watch all of Boston Legal? My Zune is a godsend while in the gym.
My netbook finally showed up last week (I think part of the delay was waiting for this artwork) and I'm slowly but surely exploring the wonder that is Ubuntu.
Think that's about it for now. I'll try and be a bit more entertaining more frequently for my faithful reader(s).
On Friday night, I was fortunate enough to go see one of my favorite bands live, Paulson. And for free, to boot; the show was held in the multi-purpose room of the Cook Campus Center at Rutgers. Maybe about 150 people or so.
So, to start with the openers...
First band was Communipaw, folk rock band from New Brunswick. A nice, mellow way to start the show and impressive enough for me to snag one of the $5 CDs they were selling at the show.
(Communipaw's CD "Moving Till The Morning")
Next band up was Streets of Fire, another New Brunswick band. More rock-based than Communipaw and a good mid-way transition into Paulson. Again, pretty impressed by them and bought/downloaded their new-ish EP release when I got home.
(Streets of Fire)
And then, finally, Paulson. I've been wanting to see them live ever since my former co-worker Mike introduced me to them, so now that's another band fave that I can scratch off my list (a list which has only two bands remaining: Nine Inch Nails, City and Colour).
(Paulson)
The setlist was a pretty even mix of old and new (though I honestly can't remember if they played anything from their "Variations" album). Really dug the fact that they played some of my faves, particularly "Calling On You" and "Window Frames". There are a lot of shows where when a band says, "Here's a new song!" one might have the tendency to tune out, wanting to hear what they know. This wasn't one of those shows. Their new stuff is good, really good. Definitely making me look forward to their next release, which I suppose is the point.
(Logan from Paulson)
Their closing song was definitely a neat touch, though I didn't immediately recognize it (my own fault). Once I realized what was being sung, I was totally into it - a cover of Phil Collins' "Take Me Home". Awesomely done and a great way to close out the show.
