Eddy's Transformers 2 Mini-Review.
Okay, just got back from the midnight showing, so here's my spoiler-free mini-review.
Loved it. Didn't feel at all like two and a half hours. No real consistent draaaaaagging moments, which is good. The action kept up pretty well. I can understand why it's better to have a more core cast of robots, since it's hard to spread the screen time (I thought Sideswipe was sorely underused). Starscream was so truly Starscream and it was good to see. Prime is a friggin' badass once again. Humans in Transformers are necessary - they always have been, they always will be. Otherwise, it's just aliens fighting aliens with no human perspective. And these humans are worth it (Lennox rocks).
To sum it up, not QUITE as good as the first flick, but being such a long-time TF fan and seeing that one for the first time surrounded by like-minded fans at Botcon '07, it holds a special place in my heart. But I'm definitely going to see this one again, hopefully in IMAX next time. And given how many people were at the theater I went to tonight? This movie's going to make a shitload of money, just like the first one.
